Keeping a silk fly line afloat is a struggle. We get that. Paste floatants work fine for a while, but wear off quickly from rubbing on the guides and your hands. A hard wax seemed to be the answer, but how to apply it?
Introducing Zen Outfitters’ Hard Wax. Inside the tin, you will find a shammy pad already impregnated with the Hard Wax. Simply fold the pad over the line, and hold tight enough to create friction and melt the wax, while stripping the line through the pad. Repeat 4-5 times until the line is coated. Make your life easier and buy either the kit below, or at least the Line Gizmo and Shammy Pads to apply Hard Wax. Doing so by hand is almost impossible. Yes, it’s THAT hard!
Following up with a light coat of Snake Oil will fill any voids the hard wax missed, but the Hard Wax can be used as a stand alone product as well.
