• Dry Fly Leaders
    Superior casting,turn-over, and presentation
on even the largest of flies. With our proprietary
floatant process, they not only float straight out of
the package, but are guaranteed to do so for life.
  • Steelhead Leaders
Whether sinking or floating, our Steelhead
leaders are designed for casting and presenting
larger flies or streamers in the most challenging
of situations. Sinking lines have a faster sink rate
than fluorocarbon and are looped at the tippet
    end for greater strength.
  • Nymph/Wet Fly Leaders
For our Sinking Lines, we use a fine diameter
polymer thread that is abrasion resistant, strong,
and has a faster sink rate than fluorocarbon.
It's greater mass also assures smooth, accurate
    casting with even heavy streamers.
  • Tenkara Lines
Our Tenkara Lines are hand crafted in the time honored tradition of using a single strand furled contsruction. Our floating lines have greater mass
than a traditional line, and the casting is greatly improved as a result. Also available in sinking
line, as well as Hi-Vis colors.
  • Floatants/Sinkants
We offer a full line of floatants and sinkants,
including paste floatant, iridescent fumed silica,
and Ultra Sink, which is non-toxic and entirely
    made of food grade materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I use a furled leader?

Lots of reasons. First of all, because of their greater mass (relative to a mono leader), they are more immune to wind, cast greater distances, cast more accurately, and present your fly more gently than any other leader around.
To understand how this is accomplished, you must understand that mass equals energy when it comes to casting a fly line. A typical tapered monofilament leader found in stores has less mass than a furled leader. Far less, so it cannot possibly transfer the power (energy) of your cast as well as a furled leader. Because of it's greater diameter in the butt section, a furled leader will also transfer that power more smoothly than a regular leader, hence, a softer presentation.

The better question might be: "Why would you use anything else?"

Will the color of the leader spook the fish?

No. At least no more than any monofilament or fluorocarbon leader will, as you will be attaching tippet to the end of the furled leader. In this aspect, the tippet will appear no differently to the fish than any other leader would.

Are the tippet rings strong?

Yes, very! In spite of their small size, they are very strong, and to date, we have never heard of one breaking during normal use.

What if my leader stops floating?

Simply send it back to us, and we will clean and re-treat it at no cost to you.

Can I use a nail knot to connect the leader instead of using a loop to loop?

Yes, but you have to be very careful how you do it. The leader MUST BE FULLY TIED TO YOUR FLY LINE BEFORE YOU CUT THE SHORB LOOP OFF. Failing to do this will cause the leader to un-furl, thus ruining it.

Can I lawn cast my furled leaders?

No, we do not recommend it for two reasons. First, the floatant will pick up dirt and grime, which may cause it to sink. Second, lawn casting can damage the leader.

Do I need to use PayPal?

No. While we use PayPal to process our payments, you can use most debit and credit cards to finalize your purchase. After selecting the products you want to purchase, you must enter your ZIP or Postal Code in the required box, then you will click on the 'Check Out With PayPal' button. That will take you to a screen where you can either proceed with PayPal, or enter your card and shipping information without being a PayPal member.

What if my floating leader begins to sink?

While our floating leaders are guaranteed to float for life, they do occasionally sink after repeated use. This can be for several reasons. Usually, it's because the floatant has either worn off, or has become dirty, and the dirt absorbs water, causing it to sink (for this reason, we do not recommend lawn casting our leaders). If this happens for any reason, simply contact us through the contact page. We will clean, re-treat, and return your leader to you at no cost, for as long as you own it.

Do you accept custom orders?

Absolutely! If you are looking for custom lengths, weights, materials or colors, we may be able to help! Simply email us through the Contact page and let us know specifically what you are looking for, and we'll get back to you regarding cost and time frame for completion.
